A provision for upgrading Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium is included in the Environment and Energy Ministry’s bill submitted to the Greek Parliament on 31 October 2026. The bill has been submitted for scrutiny and a vote, with the parliamentary process forming the next stage.

The proposed framework envisages an indicative increase in capacity to around 52,000 seats, alterations to the stands and a new lightweight roof. Olympiacos FC is expected to fund the required works under the proposal.

It also includes at least 1,800 parking spaces. The environmental process would involve a traffic management study, an update to the approved environmental terms and a corresponding joint ministerial decision by the Environment and Energy Ministry and the Culture Ministry.

The proposal also includes a conditional concession of the use, administration and management of the stadium site for 49 years from the signing of the relevant agreement. These are provisions of the submitted bill; submission does not amount to the start of construction work.
